Water Resources Modeling and Management
The EFC undertakes projects and applied research related to urban water assessment, water and energy use, and water resource modeling and management.
Urban Water Systems Analysis
EFC staff, together with our colleagues at Sacramento State's Office of Water Programs (OWP), has broad experience in designing, planning, and modeling urban water systems, including water supply, wastewater, stormwater, and flood protection. We have devised tools to support green infrastructure planning, created large-scale models
to support water supply goals in complex systems, conducted hydro-economic analysis
for sustainable water planning, and devised frameworks for improved urban flood protection
based on risk analysis.

Water and Energy Resource Analysis
EFC staff works throughout California on cutting-edge analysis for planning across water, energy, and natural resources, including the water-energy nexus. Our staff includes experts on energy efficiency analysis
, metropolitan energy planning, and renewable energy planning
. We work with communities and partners in Region 9 to provide expert analysis and tools for developing sustainable resource management.
